Building Public Gardens Committed to Demonstration and Education

During garden maintenance there are free Garden Tours from 8:30 a.m.  -  10:00 am May through September, weather permitting.  In the Spring of 2019 we will launch our garden tour app and you can take a self guided tour at anytime using the app.

Garden Maintenance Calendar 2019

April & May, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

June - September, 8:00 am - 10:00 am

The maintenance crew does not work during very cold or wet weather.

Please join the Garden Maintenance Committee crew for volunteer work maintaining the Durango Botanical Society’s Library Demonstration Garden, the Crevice Gardens Along the Trail, the Gabbro Miniature Conifer Garden and the ArboretaThis is a great time to meet new friends with your same interests.  If you are a new Master Gardener, this time will help to fulfill your volunteer requirements.

These beautiful and educational gardens are maintained solely by volunteers. As a volunteer you will learn more about gardening and plants that are suitable and appropriate for our area. You can relax and reduce stress by being in a quiet, peaceful environment. We will work in the garden every Saturday morning starting in April ending in October, weather permitting. You can set your own schedule once you attend two Saturday sessions.

Bring your work gloves, favorite tools, hat, sunglasses and water a bag/bucket for trimmings. Set your own time schedule, most volunteers will work an hour to an hour and a half.  Come enjoy and learn!

Contact: Lynn Mitzlaff

dlmitzlaff@gmail.com for the latest information. She will send you the schedule.

Emails are sent out to let volunteers know what projects they will be working on and what we need. We also send text messages. Let us know what works for you when you show up at the garden. Current volunteers will receive an email informing you of the text option. Please reply so Lynn knows how to send you information.
