The Avenues and More
The Durango Botanical Society has organized a self-guided garden tour that includes gardens along our historic avenues. Each home and garden has a story to tell. Homeowners have graciously invited us to share those stories with you. You can enjoy a bike ride for this portion of the tour in the heart of Durango. This year we also venture out to the country where we will tour some very special gardens that include a cut flower and herb farm as well as gardens created around historic elements found in this spectacular area. After the tour join us on the library terrace overlooking the Durango Botanical Society's Demonstration Garden and the Animas River for a Gourmet Botanical Inspired Ice Cream Social. Here we will pick the lucky winner of Dave Claussen's Garden Sculpture. This year we have a silent auction for the first commemorative giclee print by Barbara Tobin Klema and Lisa Bourey has provided a Bouquet Subscription from Passion Flower Bouquet Farm. The Society will be asking you to vote for your favorite garden. The winner will hold the title. "Durango Botanical Society Garden of the Year".
Come out and support our gardeners. This year after the tour attendees will be able to access a special private page that will contain the histories of the gardens as well as pictures and plant lists. How many times have you wanted to know what a plant was or what garden you saw it in? Now if you attend the tour you will have an opportunity to go back and search the plants you loved.
